Elena's Conquest gCopy courtesy of the publisherI was excited to read this book as the description made the novel sound interesting high paced and action packed Sadly while the writing style is easy to read the story is dragged out and by 40% I was about ready toive up It then picked up but the story line is predictable or maybe I ve just read one too many spythriller books and the characters are flat It feels like the author could have cut a lot of unnecessary repetition come on we know her parents died from the book description and rehashing yes she has a loser brother but don t most of us to ensure that the novel was interesting high paced and action packed At 85% it s all been predictable and the end seems to be heading in one way I ve known who the bad Sister of My Heart guy is from the startmeh but I hope to be proven wrongThe novelot better yay but then the denouement was sadly disappointing Not a book or author I d recommend to everyone however we all prefer different types of writing and story lines so it may appeal to the masses A superb Counter Intelligence CI novel that is factual in both events and story time line This type of work evolves slowly and can come to a head rapidly Some times you win and sometimes you lose of work evolves slowly and can come to a head rapidly Some times you win and sometimes you lose it could be a tied King Alfred's Version of St. Augustine's Soliloquies game The main character Kay Malloy is autsy hard working Agent who knows what she wants and Rescuing Gus goes forward in a positive manner with the endame plan always in the forefront of her actionsI thoroughly enjoyed this novel from a professional viewpoint The author s story telling was excellent and I recommend this novel "to anyone who wants to obtain a real feel for CI work I have iven it a five " anyone who wants to obtain a real feel for CI work I have iven it a five ratingI obtained an ARC from Netgalley for my unbiased reviewThank you Frank for your review Frolics with the FBII read that the author of this book was chief of the FBI in New York at one time So I Portrait of a Starter: An Unhidden Story guess I had betterive this book of hers a How the West Was Lost: Fifty Years of Economic Folly--and the Stark Choices Ahead glowing review in case I end up on the FBI s most wanted listBut no I intend to tell the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truthThis is a debut novel featuring Special Agent Kate Malloy areat name that slips off the tongue easily like Special Agent Mulder and Special Agent Scully Whether she will be up there with the likes of VI Warshawski and Sharon McCone only time will tell but she as well as Ms Fedarcyk makes a credible debut And I realise I have made an assumption that there will be a series of Kate Malloy books I think that is a compliment it itself isn t I have very mixed feelings about this novel which felt to me as though it was written by two people one who supplied the procedural details and definitions and one who filled in the plot and characters There are two as well which is than it needed I wish Fedarcyk has either dealt solely with the counterespionage at CIA or with the illegals issue It s a uick read What really bothered me though were the details that. In the ripping debut novel from Jan Fedarcyk “the FBI’s First Lady” Vanity Fair a brilliant young FBI agent named Kay Malloy joins the counterintelligence unit in New York City with devastating conseuences both personal and professionalKay Malloy always knew hers would be a life of service Following the tragic death of her humanitarian parents Kay and her brother Christopher were raised in a world of wealth and culture by their odparents With ambition and se. FidelityHigher in the organization than any woman in history When "she Retired She Was The Assistant she was the assistant in charge of the New York Field Office the largest in the FBI "retired she was the assistant director in charge of the New York Field Office the largest in the FBI story of Special Agent Kay Malloy beings with the pursuit of a Balti drug dealer with Malloy screwing up through an attempted act of kindness She redeems herself shortly afterward by killing the suspect and saving her much senior partner s life This was a little cliched but maybe necessary to establish Malloy s chops as as a unslinger when she needs to be She is otherwise characterized as being perhaps too enteel for her FBI colleagues tastes as they nickname her Ivy in commemoration of her expensive and exclusive education Counterintelligence is one of the bureau s most important functions and necessarily one they are tight lipped about Most of the story focuses on Malloy s transfer to the New York Field Office and her assignment to a joint CIAFBI operation to identify a mole within the CIA It s here that the often tedious work of counterintelligence is described in reater and accurate detail than most works of fiction achieve Of course Kay Malloy is not the typical FBI agent and #The Investigation Involves Her Personally #investigation involves her personally in a convoluted way than anyone anticipated I m hoping this is just the first of Kay Malloy s adventures Fedarcyk has at least two book titles to use before she s out of FBI motto words and that she follows the same path as her biographer rising in the FBI ranks An informative and excellent read Especially those interested in FBICIA suspense Hope to see Kay Malloy novels in the futureNote to author With your debut novel you made the initial transition from writing factual reports which consisted primarily of events situations into the writing of novels This is not as easy task as there are than subtle nuances associated with same I once found myself in a similar situation but was not as successful as you may be It was not until years later that I realized what I did wrong and it took the reading of many best sellers afterward to figure it out The primary answer plain simple is descriptive adjectives One can never ever have too many of them especially when it comes to character building surroundings The reader wants to visualize themselves being right there in the thick of things ie perhaps looking at a slightly built man with a dark complexion in a torn olive sweatshirt with wrinkled ray pants faded Fallen Angel: The Passion of Fausto Coppi green Eagles baseball cap leanin Complex enlightening While this story tends toward the slow it has a twist of an ending and presents what appears to be a realistic picture of today s CIA doings in espionageparticularly Russian It seems timely in light of the recent revelations about Russian hacking The descriptions of spying were tedious at times though the characters were compelling I found myself sliding over some of the longer passages but overall enjoyed this boo. Ng leads cloud the investigation Kay suddenly finds she must make the impossible choice between those she loves and the country she’s sworn to protect Filled with insider detail from retired FBI Special Agent Jan Fedarcyk the first woman to lead the FBI’s prestigious New York Office Fidelity is a “compelling” Publishers Weekly and thrilling look into the world of counterterrorism as well as theripping story of one woman’s fight to honor both love and dut.
